ABOUT THE AUTHOR Neil Jenkinson was born in Winchester in 1939. After Peter Symonds’s School (of which he published a history in 1992) and King’s College London, he worked as a solicitor in Winchester. Later he became a Chairman of the Employment Tribunals, before retirement in 2000. His other books are Philip Mead, Hampshire’s Greatest Batsman; Cricket’s Greatest Comeback; Images of Sport, Hampshire County Cricket Club, with Dave Allen and Andrew Renshaw; Hampshire C.C.C. 100 Greats , with Dave Allen and Bill Ricquier; and Here’s the Hambledon Club . He was an enthusiastic club cricketer: he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in 2005. Married to Jill, with two sons, he still lives in Winchester.
