Lives in Cricket No 52 - Schooled in Cricket (2nd edition)
232 1976 On Saturday August 14 after their friend Jimmy Walker had scored 57, Stephen took five for 29 while Johnny took four for 30 as Knaresborough crumbled to 86 all out. On the same day the seconds won at home to Silsden with Sam taking 7 for 48 and Miles scoring 62. Footnote I do remember asking a friend of Johnny’s (it may have been George Hepworth) whether Johnny took wickets for one of his league clubs for which I didn’t have records at the time. The answer came back with authority: Johnny always took wickets wherever he was. Appendix Two: Some of Johnny Lawrence’s league career in more detail
