Lives in Cricket No 51 - Rev ES Carter

Ealing 42 Two days later Edmund Carter was present at a private dinner when he was given ‘ninety sovereigns in token of the esteem and regard in which he was held’. He gave his thanks and left Ealing for York the next day. His accompanying family now, with wife Rosia, were eldest son Edmund, eldest daughter Catherine (born 1872), and his next son William (born 1873) and next daughter Rose (born 1875). In that way an important chapter in his life was closed, though he did return on at least one occasion to play again for Ealing. Ealing Cricket Club in the early 21st century is in fine fettle. A number of teams are playing regularly and the club is a vibrant concern. Edmund Carter would be justifiably proud.
