Chapter two Early life and Repton Although born in the seaside town of Grange-over-Sands on May 27, 1870, by the time Lionel was four he was living at Cattistock Lodge and he spent his early childhood education at The Reverend Cornish School in Clevedon, as a full time boarder only coming home for holidays. The town of Clevedon is on the north Somerset coast; it is famous for having a pier (opened in 1869).
