Henry would often take the chair at these meetings. Henry’s brother General Charles Palairet also served on the Somerset cricket committee for a while during the 1890s. Up to the age of 30 Henry moved around England fairly regularly, probably due to his work. He lived in Grange-over- Sands for several years until 1873 when he moved to Cattistock Lodge, Cattistock in west Dorset, in the upper reaches of the Frome Valley and eight miles north-west of the county town, Dorchester. In 1869 Henry married Elizabeth Ann Bigg (1844-79) and the couple had five children: Lionel Charles Hamilton (born 1870), Richard Cameron North (born 1871) and Evelyn Mary (born 1872) at Grange-over-Sands; and Edith Veronica (born 1874) at Cattistock and Rose Eleanor (born 1879) at Holcombe, Devon.
