13 Early days the season was against Chesterfield Tube Works and they were top of the league. I remember we were a few players short and my brother, Arthur, dropped down to play for us so we could get something close to a team. I took six for 13 and we bowled them out for 37. After that I was seen primarily as a bowler and everything developed fairly quickly from there. Within two summers, at the age of 17, he was in the county first eleven.
