The Club, among many others, had presented a wreath, and can be seen as being faithful to its servant to the last. The cricket- playing Vicar of Bowdon, the Rev Lowry Hamilton, in conducting the proceedings, mentioned Alec’s cricketing prowess, and that he now ‘rested after a long innings in which he had played the game.’ Perhaps with these last words we should leave it at that.
