Lives in Cricket No 39 - Alec Watson
Beyond First-Class Cricket 93 some of its committee, led by its chairman O.P.Lancashire, and officers, led by secretary T.J.Matthews, and by some playing contemporaries of Alec’s, including Albert Ward and George Yates. The Club, among many others, had presented a wreath, and can be seen as being faithful to its servant to the last. The cricket- playing Vicar of Bowdon, the Rev Lowry Hamilton, in conducting the proceedings, mentioned Alec’s cricketing prowess, and that he now ‘rested after a long innings in which he had played the game.’ Perhaps with these last words we should leave it at that.
