However, as local farmer Ernie Panks harvested the annual hay crop from the outfield, his chance remark, ‘wouldn’t it be nice to see cricket played here again’, received a favourable response from Sear who invited the village team back to its rightful home. It has been there ever since, rising through the ranks of local cricket with the benefit of one of the finest grounds in Norfolk which is nowadays increasingly used as a venue for representative matches.
