about tHE autHoR Anthony Bradbury was born in Goole, Yorkshire, in 1941, about 20 miles from the birthplace of Frank Mitchell. His recollection of early days in Yorkshire is slim for his family moved to Kent in the late 1940s, and all his initial interest in cricket arose in southern England. nevertheless his cricketing hero was and has remained len Hutton and the only team that he has unswervingly supported at all times has been Yorkshire ccc. He is also a member of the Yorkshire ccc southern Group and was chairman of the Group for two years in the 1980s. He has written for the Yorkshire Yearbook every year since 1993, and has made occasional contributions to other cricketing periodicals, and once an article in Wisden. He was admitted as a solicitor in 1965 and, after opening his own practice in south-east london, later had a variety of judicial appointments finishing his career as a circuit Judge and Deputy High court Judge. His only previous publication has been Early london county courts: a brief account of their History and buildings (2010). He and his wife, who have one daughter, live in buckhurst Hill, Essex.
