Lives in Cricket No 34 - Frank Mitchell
128 Note: the index numbers 1 and 2 indicate the innings in which the century was scored, so Mitchell only once scored a hundred in the second innings. He scored four centuries in 1899 and seven in 1901, so might well have added to his tally if he had not spent 1900 fighting in South Africa. Thomas Frank Mitchell Frank Mitchell’s eldest son was born in Johannesburg on 22 October 1907. After attending Tonbridge School, T.F.Mitchell played 31 first-class games between 1928 and 1934, mainly for Kent or MCC. He was a right-handed batsman and scored 711 first-class runs at an average of 15.12, with a highest score of 64. He was also a right arm off-break bowler taking just two first-class wickets for 247 runs. He held 15 catches in these games. He died on 20 May 1960.
