Lives in Cricket No 32 - Eric Rowan
24 England 1935 A poignant image snapped by Louis Duffus. ‘Jock’ Cameron strides out to play what was his last first-class innings. It was at Scarborough and he scored 160. His death shortly after arriving home from the 1935 tour was a tremendous loss to South African cricket. Recalling the tragedy fifty years later Eric described Cameron as ‘a wonderful chap and a very great player’. [Bassano Collection] would stand up to bowlers on the mat. His skills were uncanny and he would have been a tower of strength against Australia.’
