Uncle Vernon was still captain at East Molesey Cricket Club and working behind the scenes to ensure that everything ran like clockwork for players, members and visitors. But his new project was the construction of the most comprehensive scoreboard in the country. He began by designing and putting the pieces together in the attic of his home at Kingston Hill, but as it grew in size he moved everything down into his back garden, where it was eventually completed and erected ready for transportation to the ground.
