Lives in Cricket No 25 - Tom Richardson
71 team up again in the same England side as his fast-bowling colleague for whom this tour marked the beginning of a gradual decline. Richardson was never to play for England again. In fourteen Test matches he had distinguished himself with eleven five-wicket innings and four ten-wicket matches. He remains the only English bowler to achieve the latter; Briggs and Lohmann have three to their credit, no one else more than two. Australia 1897/98 A Tom Richardson Miniature donated to Surrey County Cricket Club ‘in memory of his visit to Australia’.
