Lives in Cricket No 22 - Jack Mercer
81 Jack picked up another ‘five-for’ in the Championship as he produced a waspish opening burst against Essex at Colchester during which he gained two wickets for no cost in his opening over. Jimmy Cutmore departed lbw to Jack’s first ball, and from the penultimate delivery of the over, Jack O’Connor fended off a lifting ball straight into Turnbull’s hands at short leg. In his fourth over, Jack added the scalp of Jack Russell before bowling Roy Sheffield and then dismissing Whiz Morris and Joe Hipkin in the space of three balls to complete figures of six for 55.
