ABOUT THE AUTHOR Stuart Brodkin is a freelance sports journalist, who specialises in cricket and horse racing. He has been on the staff of the Daily Mirror and the Daily Express and now works mainly for the Express , Racing Post and The Sun . A lifelong Lancashire fan, he spends many days during the summer months watching his beloved county, becoming increasingly more frustrated each season as they fail once more to win an outright county championship in what is now an embarrassing 73-year drought. He has always been fascinated by Johnny Briggs’ achievements ever since first reading about them in various Lancashire yearbooks and is delighted that he has finally been able to devote a book to Briggs’ remarkable career. He is very grateful to the Association of Cricket Statisticians and Historians who have given him the opportunity hopefully, to do justice to Briggs’ life and times.
