ABOUT THE AUTHOR Douglas Miller is a life-long cricket enthusiast, who saw his first county match at Old Trafford in 1946 and remained an active club cricketer until 2007. His first book for the ACS was The Cricket Grounds of Gloucestershire (2000). He followed this with A History of Bucks County Cricket Club (2006), and he also wrote Allan Watkins , A True All-Rounder (2007), No. 1 in the Lives in Cricket series. His other titles are Born to Bowl: The Life and Times of Don Shepherd (2004) and Charles Palmer, More Than Just a Gentleman (2005), both for Fairfield Books. Douglas Miller has been a panel umpire in the Thames Valley League since 2002. A former chairman of the ACS, his business career was in market research.
