Paterson, a good bat when set, but too ant p be out first ove r ; improved in fielding. W. P. Gornall, unaccountably fell off jn batting, but improved again towards the end of season; good lob bowler on a fast w icket; fine field. Andrew Pearson, in practice the best bat in the eleven, but seldom gets set in a match ; an excellent field, and can bowl a little. A, S. Caldwell, verv variable in his wicket-keeping; a promising bat. J . B. Ilarvqy played one or two fine innings, but usually too tame ; a fair field, bu t ra ther slow. F. Woodhead gets runs in a style of his own ; has great pluck and perseverance; can field and bowl a little J. J. Snieajon, the best bowler in the eleven, and may become very good indeed; a smart field, and an improving and confident batsman. L. B. Moubray, a fair cricketer all round, bu t lacks nerve. H. B. Paton, a promising bat and field, bu t must avoid flourish. P. H.
