Capt. (1886), H. R. Miles. Colour, dark 'blue. Matches, 10—won 4, lost 2, drawn 4 E. W. Burbury (capt.) has i>erformed his duties as captain excellently; lias been careful, energetic, and is felt to be a great loss; is a capital bat, with a pretty cut and a clean hit to leg; comes down well on an over-pitched ball; lias a stiff forward stroke, and is apt not towatch a good length ball; is a first-class field and a fast bowler, R. t ! Wilson, a steady, good bowler, with a fair break on a hard wicket; was very useful to the eleven; a plucky and useful field; as a bat, stiff, and not quite straight, but coming down very hard. G. Kemp, likely to be a first-class bat, hits well and prettily to all parts of the field, but is a little blind on the leg side sometimes; a painstaking field; can bowl slow round-arm a little ; slightly apt to lose heart. T. C. Wynne, a left- hand bowler, useful on his day; has a fair forward drive, but no back play tospeak of; slow in the field. P. C. Ash has greatly improved as a bat; does not yet seem to havo a very good sight of the ball; should be good next season; a fair wicket-keeper, and excellent out field. H. R. Miles, as a bat is a little stiff, and not yet absolutely straight; has an excellent eye, and is hard to get out; a capiral point and wicket-keeper. E. L. Hartley, a careful bat, with fair forward play, but hardly any back play; an energetic field. A. Line, a hard hitter, too fond of a pull; covers much ground in the field. F. Worthington plays very straight and well, but hits very little; a smart field, but needs practice. W.Pryce-Jones, a bowler with a good break back; rather un certain ; should make a useful bat; an excellent field. H. Baldwin, a stylish bat, but lias a poor sight of the ball; a hard working field BATTING AVERAGES. ; J I In n s . T im es n o t o u t . R un s . Most in . an Inns . Aver. F. W .
