A slow left-hand round-arm bowler; fair bat, and hits bard. J. S hutlr (Winchester), M.C.C., Captain of the Surrey County eleven. A fine bat and first-rate hitter, especially to the off; a capital field, and energetic captain L. A. S huter (Winchester), Surrey, M.C.C. A fair b a t ; pretty good field. Rev. H. M. S ims , Yorkshire. A powerful hitter, good field, and bowls fast round. Plays very little now-a-days. R. P. S mith , Derbyshire. Has greatly fallen off in his b a t t in g ; fair in the field. R. S pencer (Harrow), Northumberland. A fair all-round cricketer. A. G. S teel (Marlborough), Lancashire, M.C.C., and I Zingari. A fast run-getter and most excellent b a t ; plays slows with great confidence; has a constitutional dislike to his bowliim being hit, but on sticky wickets is still almost unplay, able; a good field; altogether a superb all-round cricketer. Was in splendid batting form last season. , I D. Q. S teel (Uppingham), Lancashire and Qaidnuncs. A good bat and a punishing h itte r ; fair field. H. B. S teel (Repton), Lancashire. A very hard and powerful hitter, whose defence is not very strong. Was very successful for Lancashire last year: slow in the field. I E. E. S teel (Marlborough), Lancashire. A good and useful cricketer, whose style, both in batting and bowling, is modelled on that of his brother, A. G. C. T. S tddd (Eton), Middlesex, I Zingari, and M.C.C. One of the best all-round cricketers in England ; but is occasionally unable to do himself justice owing to unaccountable nervousness. Bats in splendid style, and hits very powerfully on the off side; an excellent slow round arm howler, with a \ break from the off; a good field and sure catch. Did not play in first-class matches last season after the middle of June owing to indifferent health. G. B. S tudd (Eton), Middlesex, I Zingari, and M.C.C. A brilliant but uncertain bat, with fine leg hitting powers; a fine “ ground” field, but not a very safe catch. Only played a few matches last season owing to ill health. F. T aylor (Clifton), Lancashire. A 6teady, sound bat, but slow field. E. J. T aylor (Clifton), Gloucestershire. A very painstaking cricketer. A good field, and at times keeps wicket well; fair bat. C. I. T hornton (Eton), Middlesex (by residence), M.C.C. Now manages the Orleans Club matches, in which he scores large ly ; a tremendous h itter; defence is his own; a pretty sure catch, but slow mover in the field; bowls genuine grubs. Rev. R. T. T hornton (Winchester), Kent. A good, useful batsman. A. J. T hornton , Kent. A fairly good all-round cricketer. C. T illaud (Repton), Norfolk. A fair fast bowler and bat. F. T ownsend , Gloucestershire. A very good bat, but a little shaky the first few overs ; fine field, and bowls good lobs. • « • . li A. H. T revor (Winchester), Sussex, Free Foresters, and Harlequins. An uncertain bat, but has fine driving powers, and would bat better if his right foot were kept steady; a fair field. Was not seen in first-class cricket last year. E. F. S. T ylecote (Clifton),Kent (by residence),M.C.C., Free Foresters, and Harlequins. A capital cricketer, vigorous but patient bat, almost always good for runs; excellent wicket-keeper and field at point. Was unable to play cr icke t last season. H. G. T ylecote (Clifton), Bedfordshire, M.C.C., Free Foresters, and Harlequins. Another of the present generation of slow round-arm bowlers, with a good break ; capital field—especially at point—and a good bat. . G. F. V ernon (Rugby), Middlesex, M.C.C. A good run-getting bat, plucky am determined, and a fine free bitter; an admirable field, with a sure pair oi hands; bowls lobs. I. D. W alker (Harrow), Middlesex, M.C.C., and Free Foresters. Is still a capital a. - round cricketer; a splendid bat, both for defence and h itting ; generally safe for a score ; a useful lob bowler; has all the family knowledge of cric*^ and cricketers. Has resigned the captaincy of the Middlesex Eleven.
