W N R oe (C lergy Orphan School, Canterbury), Somersetshire. The hero o f the longest ind iv idua l score on record, 415 (not out) at Cam br idge ; has been a sad disappointment in first-class cricket. A v e ry useful man for Somersetshire; a brillian t hitter and fair field. W E R oller , Surrey . A much im proved c r ick e te r ; very cool, and a hard , though not a reck less , h it te r ; a useful medium-pace change bow ler, and a sure field. Was most valuable to Surrey, and would be a good man in an y e leven . Did not last year come up to his form o f 18S3: was ill in the early spring. E. R oper (Cliiton), Lancashire.
