The visitois had the advantage all through, but lack of time prevented the game being played out. The feature of the match was the batting of Mr. Haivey, who, for Loretto, scored 26 and a splendid innings of 106. He leceived most support from Mr. F. Woodhead (27, not out and 35), Mi. A. Pearson (35 and 4), and Mr. L. R. Patterson (46 and 0). On the Rossall side Mr. 1. (4. Luard contributed 32 (not out)—an innings which saved his side from following on—Mr. J. Blackwell 20 and 15 (not out), Mr. E. A. Watson 16 and 5, Mr. G. M. Mellor 13, and Mr. J. B. Wimbush 10. Mr. W. P. Gornall took 6 of the 11 Rossall wickets that fell. MALVERN COLLEGE v. A J Jfc f A very'well fought out game, Bradfield, after having a distinct disadvantage on the first innings, playing up well, and winning easily. For Malvern, Mr. J. H. Coplestone obtained 40 and 0, Mr. F. Gardley 4 and 36, and Mr. A. F. Woodhead 32 and 0; while -Mr. A.- W. Le Marchand took 9 wickets, and Mr; J. B. Rawlinson 5. The best batting in the match was that of Mr. E. J. Bidwell, who, for Bradfield, scored 24 and 51. He was supported in the first innings by Mr. H. L. Brooksbank (20) and Mr. V. 8. The most extraordinary piece of run-getting hy a school eleven in the whole season, Leamington being at the wickets all day and averaging over (33 runs per wicket. The achievement was also remarkable from the rapidity of the sooting. Mr. A. Passman made 121, Mr. J. 13. Wood JOG (not out), Mr. D. R. Adye 90, Mr. A. Hepburn 66, and Mr. G. A. Ployd 60. Four of those who batted did not reach double figures, and the average of the five mentioned was over 88.
