Tlie results of the season compare favourably w ith those of 1883, hut it must he stated that the hopes held out for the County have scarcely been borne out. A great loss was sustained in Mr. P. H. Morton going over to Surrey. In 1883 Mr. Morton took 30 wickets for just over 9 runs each, and an idea wi l l readily he gained of how much his services were missed. The battin <r averages come out extremely well, and it w ill he seen that no fewer 'than sixteen men average double figures. Messrs. C. P. W ilson and C. H. Morrice have both done very well, hut their performances are hardly so good as those of Mr. L. K. Jarvis and Hansell, who took part in a far greater number of matohes, The two professionals, Hansell and
