In looking at the averages, the reader will at once be struck with barlow’s failure as a batsman, and his wonderful success as a bowler. In a dry season, it was indeed a good performance to take 81 wickets for just under 11 runs each. Mr. lloyle played finely, but his average is the accident of two not-out innings. Mr. A. G. Steel’s average is a remarkable one, considering that his highest innings was only 4 1 , and Mr. H. B.
