The best batsmen in the Kent eleven failed conspicuously; but some fine cricket Avas shown by Messrs. L. Wilson (27, not out, and 59), Christopherson (2 and 42), and M. C. Kemp (0 and 30). Webbe (31), Mr. Robertson (30), Mr. 0. T. Studd (26), and Mr. I. D. Walker (25). Up to a certain time Mr. Ridley played splendid cricket, but be became Arery careless after completing his 100. Surrey only failed by 3 runs to save a “ folloAV on,” but at the second attempt the batting broke down. Maurice Read made 47 and 25, Mr. Diver 52 and 2, Mr. Roller 40 and 17, Mr. W. W. Read 35 and 17, Mr. C. E. Horner 37 (not out) and 2, and Mr. S. W. Cattley 29 and 10. Mr. Diver’s innings Avas very brilliant. Mr. C. T.
