We are glad to record another successful season for this old-established club, having won 10 out of the 14matches arranged. The ground has well repaid the care expended upon it, as is evidenced by the fact of 6 “ centuries ” having been scored there last year. The Hon. Robert Grimston, President of the M.C.C., takes a kindly interest in the doings of the club by his frequent attendance on match days. T. Pearce (36.14) has again done yeoman service by scoring 626 runs—including innings of 141,124, and 98; an excellent bat, wicket-keeper, and 6eld ; in fact, as good an all-round player as the county possesses, while his underhand “ twisters’ * dismissed 103 batsmen for an average of only 7.44 runs apiece. W. T. Westell (23.8) maintains his position as one of the foremost players in the eleven ; a hard hitter, and, when set, a difficult wicket to take. Y. A. Titchmarsh (17.8) was very unlucky at the commencement of the season, but showed his true form later on ; a good all-round cricketer, and one of the principal bowlers. H. B. Cox (17), a good bat, and generally makes a score; a sure catch, but slow in the field. G. Hartley (14.3), energetic all round, and with more defence ought soon to be in the front rank. W. Proctor (14.1), a steady bat, good change bowler, and field. W. Westell (13.2), the veteran player, still maintains his average notwithstand. mg increasing years. The “ Colts” have a good account to render themselves, as out of 6 matches played 3 were won, 1 lost, and 2 drawn. S T. LAWRENCE . County Ground, Canterbury.
