Distance from Headcorn Station, 3|miles. Matches, 13—won 12, drawn 1. M. R. Cobb (capt.) (21), a first-rate over-liand bowler; favsfc, straight, and effective (average 3.8 runs per wicket); a good bat and rapid scorer; his captaincy has been remarkable alike for painstaking, perseverance, and sound judgment; promises to develop into an excellent cricketer. H. A. Crallan (12.2) rarely fails to score; drives splendidly to the off, and hits well to leg; a safe catch and good field. F. R. Nethersole (7.4) might show greater zeal in his cricket; is a steady batsman and fair bowler; quick in the field. H. S. Wood (7.3), disappointing as a batsman, but a good field, as lie rarely misses a catch and throws in well to the wicket. P. R. Cleave (2.2), a good batsman, moderate field, and good catch. C. Nettleton (7.8), one of the steadiest bats in the eleven; cuts and drives well; a moderate field; good change bowler. K. Scott (6.1), an excellent long-stop and a safe catch; as a batsman improved wonderfully towards the end of the season. L. B. Sannders (7.3), the steadiest bat in the eleven ; a good catch and fair wicket-keeper. F. H. Steinhaeuser (5), a good but unlucky bat; is quick in the field; returns sharply; a safe catch; a good change bowler. C. 8. Bonnett (8.5) hits with great power, and at the same time with a fair eye; a good field; throws in excellently from a long distance. A. R. Nethersole (3.7), a fair bat, but must hit harder; a moderate field ; safe catch; a good and useful bowler. UNIVERSITY COLLEGE SCHOOL.—Capt., J. S.Haycraft; Sec., R.J.Hutchinson. Members, 100. Subs., 12s. 6d. Colours, black and red. Matches, 21—won 11, lost 3, drawn 7. J. S. Haycraft, a splendid bat, and brilliant field at point; bowled well at the beginning of the season, but latterly fell off; has captained the eleven with great judgment; takes the average bat. L. R. Jacobs, a very steady and good bat, scored consistently throughout the season; a fair field. R. J. Hutchinson at first scarcely showed his real form, but later on batted brilliantly; fields well, and proved himself a most effective bowder. H. R. Dixson, a hard-hitting, and at times a most successful bat; a fair change bowler; slow in the field. F. H. Gossage, a very steady bat, plays in admirable style; has greatly improved on his last year’s form; has also made great advance in his fielding. H. E. Crump, a very good bat, but was unable to play much this year; maintained his old brilliancy in the field. W. A. Harris, a hard hitter, though ho played but seldom; a good field at point. H. Wade, very much improved bat, but nervous; has long-stopped extremely well throughout the season; can bowl. A. C. Cook has improved, and will improve still further in batting, but still wants nerve; at times bowled very effectively; a splendid field. A. R. Trimen, a disappointing bat; can field very well at times. T. W. Fripp, very good fast bowler; a safe field and brilliant eaten; an unlucky bat. J. M.
