Mr. Johnston (6.3) has considerably helped to obtain for the school the very creditable record it has this season ; he has batted carefully, but with poor success; fielded excellently aa long-stop, and put. life into every match in which he took part. H. D. Pitt (5 bn a good field at point, and has greatly improved in batting. J. H. Holden ( 5 . 1 ) bats in good form, but seldom makes runs; lazy in the field. G. W. Ripley (3.4) loses his head in a match, and so does not often score; hits too much; bowls well, and we expect great things of him in this department next year. C. Gillam (4.15) promised well, but fell off* towards end of the season; would hat better if he had less flourish; indifferent field. H. Hammond (3.6) has a stubborn defence, and should make a good hat next year; a good field anywhere, especially long-stop, but a bad return; can howl a bit. C. F.
