Distance from Victoria, \ mile. Matches, 10—won 3, lost 5, drawn 2. F. T. H iggins , a fine free hitter, drives hard; good round-arm howler, with plenty of spin; a smart field, and most energetic captain. C. B. T ritton improved in his bowling; hits vigorously; sure catch and reliable field. F. G. T horne keeps wicket occasionally; bowls slow round- arm, quick and active; always a hard-working member in any part of the game. A. G. B edford , although rather stiff in style, has excellent defence; as a batsman generally goes in first; as a fieldsman excels at cover-point or in the long-field. M. R. B ethune : illness prevented this gentleman playing this season. A. R. H urst ’ s resolute hitting raised him to a prominent position in the eleven, and his bowling as a change proved of great service. A. A rmitage , an improved right-arm bowler (medium pace) and bat. H. T hompson , a useful all-round cricketer, and will no doubt improve in all departments of the game. R. A. I ngram , a persevering and painstaking member of the eleven, and always endeavours to do his best. C. G ibson , hard, working and useful field, and will no doubt with time improve in his batting. A. W instanley , although a young member of the eleven, shows form, and will improve, as he can take the wicket tolerably, and is useful in any part of the field. C. A. S heering , a young member likely to be heard of to greater advantage another season. • • BATTING AVERAGES. Times Most in # l . / * t \ Innings, not out. Runs. an Inns. Aver. F. T.
