A very steady bat, and plays very straight; too slow a run-getter off Dad bowling ; an excellent field. C. W ilson , Kent. Plays hard on to the ball, and has a fine stylo. B arnes , w., bornMay 27th, 1852; one of the best bats in Nottinghamshire, and agood bowler and field; was not in his best form in Australia with the Hon. Ivo Bligh’ateam, but was in splendid form in England during the past season after June. B ahratt , E dward , bom at Stocktonon-Tees, April 21st, 1845; anexcellent left-handed medium-pace bowler; plays for Surrey by residence. B ates , W., Yorkshire ; one of the best all-round cricketers of the day; a very good bat, and first-class slow round-arm bowler; was in great form on several occasions in Australia with the Hon. Ivo Bligh’s team, both in batting and bowling; but Trill sometimes throw his innings away for a slog, being a splendid hitter. B ray , J ames , Kent; a fa ir right-hand bowler; did not play much in 1833. B kelsford , Derbyshire; a good bowler, but poor bat. B riggs , J ohn , Lancash ire ; a v e ry good bat, and splendid field. B crghes , A., born August 8th, 1849; has played for Middlesex County, being a very fair bat, with good hitting, and also a fair bowler.
