Newhoult Mr. ri. I?. Powell 13. In the second innings of Sherborne, Messrs and Tonks put on 25 for the first wicket, and the last 9 wickets fell / 0 7 runs Mr. G. Fowler took five wickets for 5 runs, and Mr. Brain f r for 4 runs. The scoring in the first innings of Sherborne was remark ably slow, the first 10 runs taking just over an hour and a quarter t obtain. Rossall had lost 5 wickets. Had time permitted, Loretto would, in all probability, have gained aw easy victory, as Rossall, with 5 wickets to fall, wanted no fewer than 162 runs to win. In the second innings of Loretto the hatting was extremely good. Mr. A. Pearson made 51 (not out), Mr. L. R. Patterson 41, and Mr. A. S. Blair 35, and there were three other double figure scores. Mr. C. E. Tunnicliffe bowled wonderfully well for Rossall, and in the first innings of Loretto took 7 wickets for 11 runs. Patterson and J. N. Kyd, the former scoring 87 and the latter 47. Messrs. A. 8 . Blair (19), F. Reid (19), and A. Pearson (16) also showed promising form. For the home team Mr. C. G. Stone made 30, Mr. T. H. Roberts 31, Mr. T. E. Eecles 17, and Mr. T. G. Philpott 12. Mr. Blair, a capital bowler for a schoolboy, took five of the Uppingham wickets.
