Mr. Wright, curiously enough, also made 71, his play being almost as good as that of his captain, but of a totally different character. Several other batsmen did well for Cambridge, Mr. J. E. K. Studd making 57 and 2, Hon. J. W. Mansfield 42, 31r. W. H. Bather 7 and 33, and Mr, Paravicini 32. For the Gentlemen, 3Ir. A. P. Lucas scored 23 and a faultless 86, 3ir. W. F. Forbes 10 and 60, 31r. Total. June 11, Cambridge University * 38L 52 - 433 Twickenham. Orleans Club 158 273* 431 Cambridge University won by 6 wickets. The feature of the game was the admirable batting of Hon. J. W . 31anslield, who scored 117 in almost faultless form, his only mistake being a chance of stumping. Indeed the batting of the Cantabs was good all through. 31r. Henery scored 76, 31r. J. E. K. Studd 69, 3Ir. \V. N. Hoe 53, and 3Ir. C. W. Wright 36. Against such a fcutal as 381 the Orleans Club had little chance, but there was nevertheless some capital batting. 3Ir. I. D. Walker made 16 and 102 (retired), 3Ir. S. S. Schultz 2 and 56, and Mr. A. W. Ridley 48 and 3. 3Ir. I. L>. Walker was not out at the close of the second day’s play, but strained his side and was unable to go on with his innings. But for this occurrence the victory of the Cantabs would have been less decisive. Mr. C. IV Studd Was singularly unfortunate in batting, and only made 0 and 11. In the first innings of the Orleans Club, however, he found a spot to pitch upon, and took 5 wickets for 28 runs. 1st Inns. 2ndInns. Total. June 14, - Cambridge University 206 307 513 Oval.
