On winning the toss Kent scored lfi9, O’Shnughnessymaking 58, Mr. Foord-Keleey 33, Mr. G. Stokes 27, and Mr. Kemp22 (not*out). The first innings of Derbyshire was remarkable for the splendid innings of 107, played by Mr. L. C. Docker, the young Derbyshire amateur. Mr. 11. P. Smith also battedwell for 43. The second innings of Kent reached 121. Mr. W. H. Pattersonplayed steadily and well for 34, andMr. Bligli andCollins each scored 25. When Derbyshire went in to get the necessary 74, thewicket was not playing at all well, and runs were obtained with great difficulty. Thanks, however, to some plucky hatting by Higley, Platts, and Mycroft, Derbyshire gained a well-earned victory. Mr. J. Lancashire 228 — 228 Lancashire won ly an innings and 129 runs. Kent, playing with a weak side, had very little chance against the Champion Comity of the year. Going in first, the home team were dismissed for the paltry total of 38, Nash taking 7wickets for 22 runs, and Watson 3 for 15. The Lancashire batting w*as particularly good. Barlo'v played inhis best formfor 01, and was w'ell backed up by Crossland (38), Kobinson (35), Matson (31), andMr. 0. P. Lancashire (25 not out). Hornby, after scoring 2, was sent buck byawonderful catchinthe long-fcld‘ The batting of Kent Inthe second innings was a little better than before. Mr. Bligh scored 25, and Mr. W. II.
