Cambridge University 177 M.C.C. won by 70 runs. The University had the worst of the luck on f the match, commencing each innings late in the afternoon when the light was bad. They would hare been beaten more easily but for some sad blunders in the field on the Saturday. Taken as a whole, however, the game was a good one, and it certainly excited a large amount of interest. For the M.C.C., Midwinter made 44 and 35, Barnes 42 and 35, Mr. Ridley 26 and 42, and Mr. A. P. Lucas 34 and 15. There was also some capital hatting for the University. Mr. C. T. Studd made 58 (a splendid innings) and 23, Mr. G. B. The wicket played perfectly on the Monday, but cut up n good deal as the game went on, a fact which will account for the com paratively small scoring in the second innings of each side. Altogether the Oxonians played a very creditable game. Their chief scorers were Mr. Leslie 57 (a line innings) aud 17, Mr. Trevor 33 and 32, Mr. \V. A. Thorn- ton 43 and 0 , and Mr. Peake 16 and 39.
