Smith (10.15), left hand, bats in a free style, wins the average bat for the second year; a fine bowler, varies both pace and pitch, winner of second bowling prize, 5.5 per wicket. Chapman (9), a good all-round bat, scores off any bowling; again wir.s second batting prize. Crook (7.11), has some defence; bowls ronnd-arm slows with success (6.15.); sure field and catch. Dalton (7.1u), left hand, a patient bat with stubborn defence, one of the best in the club ; good field. Inwood ( 6 . 6 ), a pretty bat., but very unlucky ; a splendid bowler, his average of 4.3 winning the first prize ; can field well anywhere. Northfield ( 6 . 1 ), fair and. improving bat; indifferent field. Moore (8.1), the wicket-keeper; fair bat; should practise more. Williamson (6.3), a free bat; the best field in the club, for which he gets Hie prize, hie fielding at point being most brilliant throughout the season. J. A. Hume (5.1), a steady, but uncertain bat; bowls well sometimes, with a very low delivery. W. F. Bishop (4), an energetic cricketer; a change bowler, and quick field. Bassil (3.10), as a bat lacks patience, drives very hard and clean ; good last bowler (5.27i, did the hat trick; the first time he has not taken a bowling prize for three seasons; sharp field. Hardisty (5), a batsman who rather disappointed himself and others. G Moses ( 2 ). a fair bat, quite unfortunate. E. Jones (2), at times the best left-handed bowler in the club, but sacrifices pitch to pace.
