B rut ton (47.2) capt., and gives uni­ versal satisfaction; batted most successfully throughout tho season; he wins the average bat for the third time with the magnificent average of 47.2, duo in some degree to Lis large scores when not ou t ; very destructive swift bowler, and in his usual place at point a brilliant catch and safe field. Rev. W. if. W adsworth (11.1) has improved very much in batting; good judge of a catch in the long field. E. B. S hortt (4 2), his short-sightedness interferes greatly with batting and fielding. R. W. A rmstrong (11.2) has done great service to the eleven this year by liis bowding; medium with work both ways; safe field ; left hand bat, is inclined to hit too much, but scores well generally. R. B. L attimkr (13.7), great improvement in batting, hits well all round ; a little fallen off in bowling, but still keeps up his reputation as a very good field. F. G. S aint (3.7) has been very unfortunate; a steady bat, but in matches frequently failed to score ; medium bowler with fair pitch. J. P. M atthews (4.8), good defence, goes in first and plays steadily, not a quick run-getter, pretty bat; neat field at cover-point. C. H aslkwood (8.7) requires time to develop ; is deficient in strength, but shows good form ; with practice has every chance of becoming a true cricketer; safe field, W. H. B aker (5.7) takes great interest in the game; hits hard,
