D obinson (capt.), by far the best bat in the eleven, having good defence and hitting powers; a capital field anywhere ; unsuccessful as a wicket, keeper. 0. G rabiiam , a very successful fast bowler, with bumpy action; a run-getting bat, hitting finely to the off; winner of the bowling average. W. S. M ay , a pretty but uncertain bat, rather wanting in defence ; fairbowler ; poor in the field. E. M. F orbes fielded brilliantly throughout the season; with confidence would make a fine player, as he keeps his bat straight, and hits very hard. II. M. E ddowes *, came off in some of the foreign matches, but must learn to play with more quickness and decision; an energetic though slow field. W. F. J ameson , a disappointing bat, has a beautiful cut behind the wicket, and plays in pretty style, but does not get many runs; moderate field. H. B uckley , a capital field anywhere, with safe pair of hands; a much improved though still awkward bat. E. H. D’O yly , did not fulfil the expectations formed of him; must try and get over his nervousness, and put more power intohis play ; anuncertain field. E. F. K earsey , a careful left-hand bat with fair defence; bow ed steadily and well throughout the season; wants energy in the field. A. H anmkr ,* slow left-hand bowler, with pretty good judgment of pace and pitch; a fair field and poor bat. K. J.
