An excellent bat, with fine powers of hitting, patient and persevering, of great service to his County; a pretty good field,’ and bowls a little fast round. A pretty straight medium-pace bowler; moderate with the bat. H. W. R enny -T ailyour , R.E. (Cheltenham), Kent, M.C.C., and I Zingari. A great run-getter, but does not play much in the best matches; has defence and hitting powers; a fast change bowler and good field*
