145 - p r\TBURST, Lancashire. Is a very fair bat and useful field. r C D ocker , Derbyshire. Good and powerful ba t ; scored largely for his County. a s* D uncan , M.C.C. and Quidnuncs. Frequently gets runs, being a pretty fair bat; A‘ ’ * rather slow in the field. T) D uncan , Hants. A good bat and pretty certain field. »r* s D ury (Harrow), Yorkshire and Harlequins. A good bat and a capital field; also ‘ a change bowler. p Sussex. A very good bat, and a difficult man to get rid o f ; plays well on * leg side, but has hardly sufficient hit; a good field, and fit to play inmost elevens. W A. F airbanks , Gloucestershire. A very fair bat and good field. G S. F oljambe (Eton), Notts, M.C.C., and I Zingari. Can bat pretty well, and is able to hit; not reliable in catching. W. F oord -K elcey , Kent and Harlequins. A very fast and pretty straight bowler, but easy on a good wicket; much improved bat, and hits hard. Only played a few times last year. "\V. F. F orbes (Eton), Yorkslure (by residence), M.C.C., and I Zingari. An excellent bat, quick scorer; very fine field and thrower; bowls fast round. W. J. F ord (Repton), Middlesex, M.C.C. A fineba with great punishing powers; a change bowler and fair field at point. Rev. A. F. E. F orman , Derbyshire. A good bat and fine field. A. S*. F rancis (Rugby), Middlesex. A long scorer in minor matches; has fair defence and great hitting powers; a change bowler. C. K. F rancis (Rugby), Middlesex, M.C.C., I Zingari, Free Foresters, and Harlequins. A good fast bowler, with 6ome work on the b a ll ; he has not been quite so successful lately; as a bat can hit well, but requires more steadiness; rather apt to be slack in the field, but if ho likes can be very “ handy,’ *especially at slip. W. F rancis , Sussex. A moderate bat, and good field. H. F reeman (Marlborough), Herts. A hard hitter and good field. F. E. R. F ryer (Harrow), Suffolk, M.C.C., I Zingari, Free Foresters, and Quidnuncs. Does not now play in many good matches; a fine bat, with good style; bowls the fashionable slow round, and is a pretty sure catch. W. H. G ame (Sherborne), Surrey and Harlequins. Hardly played at all last season ; a style of his ©wn, having cramped defence, but a very hard hitter; fine field and thrower. W. R. G ilbert , Gloucestershire. A “ pokey” bat at first; when “ set” plays with more freedom, and a difficult wicket to get; bowls slow round, with a good break; a very fair field, though inclined at times to drop a catch. E. M. G race , Gloucestershire. Not so quick a run-getter as formerly; constantly gets his leg in front of the wicket; a large scorer still in minor matches, but does not got so many runs in the best company; bowls slow under-hand and medium round; an active, energetic, and excellent field at point. W. G. G race , Gloucestershire and M.C.C. Still the best bat in England, though not so certain as a few years back; perhaps a trifle “ shaky” now at first, and tires sooner; a wonderful “ timer” and “ placer” of the ball, and hits all round; as a bowler, is rather too fond of keeping on when a change is desir able, but nevertheless must be ranked very high in that department, bowling medium-pace with good command of the ball; most excellent field anywhere. A. G ray , Yorkshire. A good slow round-arm bowler. G. E. G reen (Uppingham), Middlesex, M.C.C., I Zingari, and Quidnuncs. A great supporter of cricket and cricketers; a very fine clean hitter; especially excels in driving; has been known to bowl with success, but rarely attempts it now ; a g©od field; plays little first-class cricket now, except, of course, with the Uppingham Rovers. A. D. G reene (Clifton), Gloucestershire. A very steady and pretty safe bat, and a capital oat-field. Rev. F. J. G reenfield , Sussex and M.C.C. Appears to havo lost some of his cricket; steady and good bat, bowls slow round with a break, and also lobs; good field at point. H. W. R. G ribble (Clifton), Gloucestershire. Promisos to be useful to his County as a batsman ; very fair field. W. H. H adow (Harrow), Middlesex, M.C.C., I Zingari, Free Foresters, and Harlequins. Did not play much last year; a good bat; bowls slow round, with a low delivery; not very lively in the field. J. H. M. H are (Uppingham). An ugly sticking bat; plays a g roa t d ea l o ff hia ground; excellent field. ° 10
