Fairbowler, but liable to lose his length . Captain for 1899. *Hon. N.. Gathorne -Hardy: A pretty bat, with improved power of scoring . Fielded ex- cellently at point . *C. C. Trollope : Batted in capital style , and played several very valuable innings . Slow and unsafe in the field . *E. G. de C. Brooke : T h emainstay of the side in bowling. Could be relied on to keep up an end, butdidnot m a k ethe ball do m u c h. Stiff withthe batandin thefield . S. R. Gibbs : Improved bat, scoring faster thanlast year. Workedhard in the field . A. C. T. Woodward: A hard-hitting bat, with long reach. His defence was weakand his fielding bad. * V. R. Balfour -Browne : Failed with the bat, owing partly to his being out of luck. Hard-working and accurate field . *G. C. Oakley : Aslow bowler with a nice action ; whenhe got his length hewas difficult on all wickets . N o bat. Fair but sleepy field . R. G. Browne : A strong andcourageous but rough bat ; several times got runs at a pinch. Fair field , andm a ytrain on into abowler. N. Randall : Apromising bat, with some defence and nerve .
