BRANN, G.-A fine free bat andgood field ; was in splendid form for the County last year. FISHER , C. D. (Westminster ).-- A steady , sound batsman , putting plenty of force into his strokes ; very safe field . FRY, C. B. (Repton and Oxford).- A nexcellent all -round cricketer ; a fine free -hitting bat ; was in brilliant form last year ; a good fast bowler and safe field. LATHAM , P. H. (Malvern and Cambridge ).--A very fine batsman , playing with great power, and an excellent field . MONTEZUMA, L. DE.-A very goodbatsman; moderate field . MURDOCH, W. L.--- Still one of the very best amateur batsmen of the day; and a fine judge of the game; captained the side with great judgment. NEWHAM, W.-- A very fine bat; good field ; at times a useful change bowler ; hardly in his best form last year. RANJITSINHJI , K. S. (Cambridge).-Avery fine bat with a great variety of strokes ; fine field at point , and useful change bowler ; did not play last year. SMITH, C. L. A. (Brighton College ).--Gives every promise of becominga first-- class batsman; anexcellent field . W A R W I C K S H I R E . BAINBRIDGE, H. W. (Etonand Cambridge).- O n eof the best amateur batsmen of the day, playing a safe game; keen cricketer ; safe catch and reliable field ; an unfortunate blow on the wrist early in June prevented him play- ing during the remainder of 1898-a great loss to the side . BYRNE, J. F.-A batsmanof great promise, watching the ball well , andscoring regularly in good style ; change bowler and smart slip ; business prevented his playing regularly during 1898 . FISHWICK, T. S. Promising bat; but was unable to assist the side regularly.. GLOVER, A. C. S.- Goodbatsman, with free and attractive style , but rather inclined to hit too much; smart field ; played brilliantly at times ; cap- tained the side in the absence of H. W. Bainbridge . HILL, J. E .-Sound bat ; hits well all round the wicket , generally getting runs ; good field , safe catch ; business prevented his playing anything like regularly . LOVEITT, F. R.-Played occasionally ; fair bat ; good field . WILLIAMS , R.-Should develop into a useful player ; keen field . W I L T S H I R E . ASHFIELD, C. E. (Marlborough).-A fine bat and good field . Not often available. AWDRY, C. S. (Winchester and Oxford).-Agreatly improved bat ; has played most consistently through the season , making some fine scores ; a keen hard-working cricketer ; bowls fast . BATSON, F. C.-Has batted successfully ; good field at point , and bowls slow with a leg-break. DIBSDALL, A. G.-Ought to makea good fast bowler (right hand) ; fields well andis a useful bat. GERRISH, B. L.-A fine left -handed bat ; good medium-pace bowler, and excellentfield. GOUDGE, W. H.-A fine field , with good return ; has not batted as well as last. y e a r.
