One of the best amateur fast bowlers in Eng- land ; much improved bat , and good field . LUCAS, A. P. (Uppinghamand Cambridge).-Plays in correct style , with great defence ; good field , and useful slow bowler . MCGAHEY, C.-Asmart bat, quite one of the best in the County ; good field . OWEN, H. G. (Cambridge).- Asound and careful batsman; a good field ; captained the teamably . PERRIN, P.-Oneof the best bats in the County; strong defence , and can hit wellat times. TURNER, A. J. (Bedford Modern).-Avery good bat with strong defence ; hardly so successful last year as in 1897 ; a useful change bowler and fair field . F A N E, F. L. (Oxford).-Plays for Essex. (Cheltenham ).- Agood steady bat and reliable field . GRACE, W. G.-Still with no superiors as an all -round cricketer ; batted with all his old success , and was of great use , too, with the ball . GRACE, W .G., Jun. (Clifton and Cambridge).- Auseful bat ; bowls fast ; fair field. KITCAT, S.A.P. (Marlborough).- Agood bat; fair field ; bowls a little , medium pace; played little first -class cricket in 1898 . MCHEMINGWAY, W. (Uppinghamand Cambridge) .-A free -hitting bat , likely to be dangerous at any time. RICE, R. W. (Oxford).-Hasa very fine defence , and is very steady ; was of great use to the County in the later matches. RICHARDSON, A. G. (Cambridge).- Auseful bat, likely to makeruns against anybowling . SEWELL, C. O. H..- Is a fine hitting bat with good defence ; excellent field ; played consistently good cricket throughout the season . TOWNSEND, C. L. (Clifton ).-One of the very best amateur slow bowlers in England; breaks both ways, anduses his head well ; an excellent left- handedbatsman and good field ; was very successful both as batsmanand bowler ; got over a thousand runs and took over a hundred wickets . W I N T O N, S. D. D e. A useful bat, andsmartfield . WRIGHT, E. C. (Oxford).-Goodbowler ; useful all -round cricketer . BATEMAN- CHAMPAIN, F. H. (Oxford) and JESSOP, G. L.
