If he would use more judgment in choosing the ball to hit would be quite first -class . A safe and active field . A slow bowler with a great deal of break and the powerof bowling a faster one without showing it . Has had a successful season for his second captaincy ; might perhaps have varied his bowling more. *C. E. Winter : A very good wicket -keeper , safe , quick , and quiet , and has been invaluable to the team. A moderate but improving bat and a lob bowler . G. H. S. Fowke : The best bat in the team. Hasa very sound defence and cuts well, but might makeruns morequickly if he could learn to drive . Goodfast bowler , and varies his pace well, but was inclined to get short with his fast ones . Goodshort slip and cover . G. W. Harris : Agood bat, sound in defence and very hard in offence , with good off -drives andcuts . Fields very well in the country and at third man. *H. Willey : Asound bat when he doesn't jump, having a good defence andplenty of power. A brilliant point . E. G. P. Bushell : One of the most useful m e nin the team. Hastaken manywickets with slow left -handbowling , well pitched and very steady . Aslashing bat, hitting well on both sides of the wicket . A good cover . J. McIver : Avery sound bat with pretty style ; good on theoff -side , and will with next year's additional strength score quickly . very fair mediumbowler at most times , though apt to get short in an effort to bowl fast . A. C. von Ernsthausen : At most times agood fast bowler , but not a laster . Should be more careful to keep off the leg side . Very sluggish in the field . Improved as a bat, and should be quite useful if he will only stick to it andtry harder. Tooapt to be discouraged . *J. H. Hull : Muchimproved as abat ; he began in a very rustic fashion , but improved as the season advanced, thoughhenever played with quite a straight bat. Atmost times a good field . J. C. Adkins : A disappointing cricketer , with good style but no success . His bowling might have been utilised more. Not very active or sound in the field . F C. Faulkner : A steady bat with good defence , but constantly got himself out through not getting near enough to the ball on the off -side . Animproving field , though a trifle slow in starting still .
