Stanger- Leathes : A powerful bat; dangerous whenset . Safe catch . Useful bowler. Cheerful under adversity , and an excellent captain . *H. C. Pinckney : Hasplenty of good strokes , but fortune or want of confidence interfered with him scoring . Energetic and pretty field , with an occasional rash return . P. Eglington : Variable bat ; played two or three remarkably good innings . Avery respectable point , consider- ing his size . F. W. Kemp: Acautious and improving bat who did good service tohis side . A fairly safe catch . H. M. Greenhill : Hasa good style , and with care shouldbecomea safe scorer . C a nsend d o w na useful ball withhis left hand, but should aim at a higher action . G. R. Garnier : Hasa tendency to overreach himself , otherwise a sound and pretty batsman; towards the end of the seasonhe metwith the success he deserved. A. E. Catt: A most useful and capable wicket -keep to frequently erratic bowling ; with better oppor- tunities should be exceedingly smart. A. D. Wood: A medium-paced bowler, with a mighty run; can keep up his end in spite of his action . At times a successful but not scientific bat. *H. V. Fletcher : A brilliant field and useful to his side , but not a consistent scorer . R. B. Rickman: Cankeep a good length , with an easy action and moderate break : with increasing strength should develop increasing sting . A fairly promising bat . W. F. Pothecary : H a slittle commandover the ball, but on his daycan secure a good wicket . Hits hard, but too frequently to square leg . S H R E W S B U R Y S C H O O L . Captain for 1898.-F. H.
