Hannay(1897-8 ) : A nexcellent captain in every way, and knew his place thoroughly . A useful bowler, but fell off towards the end of the season . A very good bat, playing a good defensive or forcing gameas the occasion required . Goodalso in the field . *C. A. G. Luther (1897-8 ) : Disappointing in his batting , though his off -driving was excellent . Agood point . E. W. Dillon (1898) : A very sound andreliable left- handbat; scores well on the leg side , but as yet lacks freedom and power. G o o dfield , and should makea very fair slow bowler . *A. E.
