1 6 6 LILLYWHITE'SCRICKETERS' ANNUAL. REPTON ELEVEN IN 1898.-W. F. Lumsden: Played some good innings , but hardly came up to expectation . Bowls fast with a high easy action , and wasvery successful in the Old Reptonian matches. W a sa very good captain , and kept his team well together in the field . G. C. Beloe : A left -handed bat , andplays well on fast wickets ; has a weak stroke on the off -side , which often costs himhis wicket . Right -hand medium-paced bowler , straight , and keeps a good length . Goodfield andsafe catch . *H. Jameson : Fielded very well in the country. Most disappointing as a bat. R. C. Franklin : Bowls slow with a leg -break ; kept a better length this year , and should get plenty of wickets , but at present is not very successful against good bats. A s a batsman has some good strokes , but very little defence . Smart field and good thrower. G. M. T. Harris : Hasthe makings of a fine bat ; scores quickly , and hits well all round the wicket ; rather too fond of the " pull " before he is set . Fair fast bowler, but strained his back early in the season . Smartfield in the slips , but apt to drop catches . *E. Mortimer : Played very well in afternoon gamesearly in the year, but failed completely in foreign matches. Slow in the field . W. S. Nealor : Fair left -hand bowler, with some idea of howto vary his pace. Wasvery disappointing as abat ,but should make runs next year . Good catch , but rather slow in the field . H. L. Farrar : Bats in nice style , and sometimes makesruns on fast wickets . Must improve in fielding . J. Dickinson : Kept wicket well at first , but fell off ; developed a habit of " snatching " at the ball , whichmadehimdrop his catches . Poorbat. G. Airy : Fair bat, and should improve. Bowls fast and straight , but is too short . Fielded well at point . E. J. A. Shuttleworth : Good field in the country and moderate bat. Gets wicketsat times. R O S S A L L S C H O O L .
