Agood, though perhaps not quite sound bat ; whenonce set makesruns quickly , but is rather too anxious to begin hitting at once . Amagnificent field at cover-point . R. H. Spooner : A magnificent bat, playing well all round the wicket ; his back and wrist play are quite remarkable , and off -driving very hard and clean . Excellent wicket -keeper , much above the average . With more practice should make a dangerous bowler . *W. K. P. Ffrench : Made runs in his own style when the wicket got fast ; watches the ball well . Slow in the field . *R. Marryat : Agood fast bowler on his day, but not always to be dependedupon; too muchinclined to sacrifice everything for pace. Greatly improved as a bat . H. C. B. Gibson : Agood slow left -hand bowler , but not so deadly as last year . Owing to a bad knee only once played after the middle ofJune. Fast improving as a bat , and often makes runs . *H. F. Montgomery : Atthe beginning of the season promised well as a bat , but , owing to Army exams ., did not come on as much as had been hoped . Has a good off-drive , and can play well on the leg side . Good field . *R. S. Leather : A promising bat, but weak against slow bowling ; frequently got runs when they were wanted. Goodfield . M.R. Dickson : Apromising bat , but wants more strength ; makesmost of his runs behind the wicket , having a good though rather risky leg glide ; will be dangerous when he has learnt to hit more. H. A. Hildebrand : Fairmedium-paced bowler, who generally met with success . Poor bat and field . R. C. Ross : Fair mediumbowler, keeping a good length , and often getting wickets . Improving as a bat , although he has still much to learn . A good field . J. R. P. Sandford : Afree bat , who would meet with more success if he would play straight . Active field . Can bowl fairly well at times . TheRadley Results did not arrive in time for insertion in proper place butwill befoundat endofbook.
