W h e nset shows an extraordinary commandof the situation , but is liable to be caught early behind the wicket . Avery fair field , andcanbowl. *E. W. N. Wyatt : A left-handbat of the uncertain ,but some- times brilliant order . His off -drives and cutting are far above the ordinary . Dislikes fast bowling . As a bowler he has failed to a large extent from over- exertion . Veryfair field on the floor , but poor catch . *C. A. Rathbone : A slow leg-break bowler , who is always dangerous, but, like most of his order , is apt to beexpensive ; does not try the plain or off -break ball enough. Oughtto have mademanymoreruns than he has. Possibly best field in the eleven . B. A. White : Reserved his runs for the Quidnunc match, when he played an excellent innings . Has a hard cut and off-drive . W e a kin the field . G. B. Canny : Has played several most useful innings , notably against Uppingham. Ifhestood up better and used his height he would probably be quite good . W e a kfield . A useful left -hand bowler. W. H. B. Evans : A very consistent scorer , with a lot of cricket in him. Has had some luck, but with care ought to be quite good all round. A promising fast bowler, but moderate field . B. S. Foster : W h e nhe makesruns, gets themfast , but his style is as yet disappoint- ing. His defensive play lacks confidence . A good catch and very fair field , though somewhat casual . G. B. Sanderson : A remarkably good bat for his size ; plays straight and times the ball well . Must remember that he starts batting with a deficit owing to fielding . W. J. L. Poston : A wicket -keeper with plenty of style and somepromise, but is weakin taking catches . Ought to have mademore runs . G. S. Browne: A right -hand bowler, whouses his wrist well , and gets some workon the ball . Hasmuchto learn in batting and fielding . B. A. Collins : Hasnot fulfilled his promise as a bat. Moderate field . Cankeepwicket . M A R L B O R O U G H C O L L E G E . Captain for 1898.-H. Etlinger . R e s u l t so f M a t c h e s. Matches played , 8 ; won, 3 ; drawn, 4; lost , 1. Opnts. Club.
