Pilkington : As captain has managed the side well , placing the field and changing the bowling with judg- ment. Afine free batsman ,with beautiful strokes all round , ia off-side . Muchimproved in the field since last year, nowquick and safe . A t Lord's his display at extra mid-off was faultless . Afair slow bowler , but rather too short as a rule . *C. H. B. Marsham: Has not improved as a batsmanthis year, his play in the matches at Etonbeing very disappointing . His innings at Winchester and Lord's were most valuable ,and quite up to his best formof last year . Quick and active in the field , but not quite reliable though often
