Kershaw : Bats in a style all his own; scores very fast all round the wicket . Didsomebrilliant things at cover -point , but did not always catch with certainty . Not a great bowler . *J. N. B.- Champain : Seen at his best on a slowish wicket . Has good defence , but lacks powerand vigour . Makesmost of his runs on the leg side . Amost keen and painstaking cricketer . *G. F. Collett : A goodbut uncertain batsman; plays fine commandingcricket , if allowed to get set . Lost his catching power for a time. *P. C. Turnbull : Withhis long reach has great hitting power, but will not always use it ; never carries his off -drive through. Did muchgood work at mid-off . A. K. G. White : Amost promising cricketer in all departments of the game. Showedsound defence , but lost his freedom as the season went o n. Hasplenty of nerve at critical times . Bowls a very difficult ball , but far too m a n ylong hops. Captain 1899. D. W. Salter : Played an excellent innings against Clifton at a very critical hour, but otherwise as a batsman didnotcomeup to expectations . Bowls straight andfastish , with a very fair lengthbutdrops his arm too muchto be really good. Agood field . *L. J. Clayton : Came out top of the bowling averages . Bowls leg -breaks and changes his pace well . Did not alwaye meet with the best of luck. A sa batsmanhas fair defence , but no strokes . *A. J. Biscoe : A promising left -hand bowler. with a somewhat deceptive flight . Played a very sound innings against Clifton , but hardly madea runbesides . Will makeruns whenhe gets strength . W e a kanduncertain in the field . *C. A. Hutton : H a dalmost too m u c hconfidence , andwas always in too muchof a hurry to makemanyruns. Auseful left -handbowler, better than his average makeshimout. R. S. Bridge : Quite a promising bat , with good defensive powers . Did not seem to relish fast bowling . Afree -and-easy field . G. R. Murray : Avery fair wicket -keeper , plucky and painstaking . Bats with confidence ; has strong defence , and watchesthe ball better than anyone in the team.
