THATa progammeof 180 matches, manyof themof the greatest importance should have been carried out without a hitch , is a striking testimony of the efficiency of the managementof the Marylebone Club. Ofthe first -class fixtures there were fourteen , of which eight were won, one drawn, and five lost . M.C.C.'s highest score in these matches was 404 against Lancashire , the highest against it the 418of Sussex. Thethree Derbyshire professionals , Storer , Chatterton, and Davidson, all did good service ; the all -round cricket of the last -named was particularly useful . The Australian , A. E. Trott , too, was of thegreatest assistance in batting as well as bowling . H eshared the honours in the latter department with J. T.
